The video does make you think. Life is risk and you can't do anything to completely eliminate risk in your life. However, when riding a bike, we're more vulnerable since we may be in the street mingling with traffic. People may poo-poo my mods and think they're dorky, but I feel better with turn signals, a loud horn and good lights. That said, defensive riding (just like driving) is extremely important. I obey stop signs and signal lights. I always presume that a driver isn't paying attention and I'll slow down when a car is turning left in front of me or when I'm approaching an intersection and have the right-of-way. I'd rather go a bit slower and stop occasionally, if that means I'll make my destination alive.
