... ;<}E-Zip Mountain Trailz - Noise?
Many people ask;
"Is the E-Zip noisy?"
I would say that the sound is, not loud ... but ... noticable.
Possibly similar to winter tread tire noise. Halfway between a whine and a whir.
With 36v adaptation, near 20mph, it becomes more of a whine and a GRRRR!
Big smile!

Louder than I would prefer.
Not as loud as the youtube vids make it seem. Today the wife was on her (used) bike's maiden voyage, and I had to ask her if she was using the motor. There was a bit of ambient white noise in the neighborhood from AC compressors and stuff and I couldn't hear it when she was 50' away. Dogs can hear me coming, though. I hear the barks about 3 houses away. |

Trailz Sound ... ? I just received my 3rd EZIP. This is the first "Trailz" that I've owned, my other 2 are "Mountain Trailz" (MT). Strangely, the motor makes a much different noise, than my MT. I've described the MT motor sound as a "whine, with a chirr", my new bike has more of a "whine, with a brirr", sounds almost like it's inside a tin can, or under water. ... ... ??? |

2009 Ladies EZip - Stealth Machine O0o.Just got a 2009 "Ladies" EZip. Could not pass it up, too good a price! Before I even assembled it, I performed the 16T upgrade, and a 14-34T to 11-32T 7spd upgrade. After assembly there was a motor gear alignment problem that required a slight bend of the motor bracket.
Anyhow ... when I went to test drive, I was dismayed, to notice that my speed was a mere 17mph, (20-21 was anticipated.) Also, the acceleration was disappointing! Wait a minute ... I could not hear the motor! It was smooth & silent, like a ghost. Something was greatly different, I must have received a 250w motor - that explains everything. Not enough power for me! Might be great for a 100lb girl, but I'm pushing 200lb. But ... With the mechanical upgrades, it's a very nice machine, also put on 2.125 big - comfy whitewalls, lights, turn signals, brake lights. Sadly ... Too nice for any of the girls I know. Sooo ... re-christened the ... Stepthrough Stealth! Should be great for leisurely cruises, along the blacktopped forest trail, (about 10 miles long, it meanders around St. Bonaventure University) |

Beveled GearsTurns out the 2009 EZip does not have a 250w motor.
Instead, they redesigned the motor, using beveled gear, replacing the straight cut gears, of previous years. Power output seems less, but will still cruise at 20mph, modded, but does it almost silently. Motor appears to be the 450w model. Possible geared slightly differently, of the beveled gears could be slightly less efficient? |
