Updated with group buy details below:
The best group buy pricing I could get was with superkidsonline.com the total price as of 7-17-2101 is $269.95 after adding the below coupon code includes free shipping. All kits will be available for shipment by the end of this week. Use the below coupon code to get the group buy pricing.
I will say that this kit offers the most bang for the buck. I love mine. Plus, you can always add LIFEPO4 after the fact. (This spring, I built my own LIFEPO4 pack that mounts into the Currie rear rack. The best news was that I got the Thundersky cells on sale for a total of $208 and built a 24V 20AH pack that's only slightly deeper and longer than the OEM SLA pack.)

I am still working out the details with the vendor. Once I have everything confirmed I will definitely post the details here. thesuperkids would qualify as a top online ebike reseller though.
I too am interested, especially if the SLA pack can be made an option.
I have Nilar NiMH 24V/10Ah, 1/2 the weight of SLAs, fits in old Currie eFolder rear pack (though doesn't slide into custom rack, rats!).
Yes, battery costs as much as rest of kit, but this is interchangeable among other Curries and a Giant LAFree Lite (got from local pawn shop!)
The OEM SLA is packed in the kit at the factory. I don't expect to see merchants willing to open factory-sealed boxes and remove the battery (I suspect they could get into hot water with Currie, too). You can always sell the unused OEM SLA battery pack on your own via e-bay or even on this board.
DrkAngel,
$279 is what I paid at the Superkids last year (and I got free shipping, too). Even at $299, it's the best deal for a kit, especially since it includes an OEM SLA battery.
I would recommend this kit, having installed it on my bike last year. The kit is well-made and easy to install. The Currie non-hub motor has lots of torque and is wonderful for someone like me who live in an extremely mountainous areas and has steep hills to deal with.
Admin,
Depending on the price you can negotiate, I might be interested in another kit. I want to build a second e-bike using a step-through model. I've got my eye on a 24-speed Trek step through with traditional dérailleur and this would be the most affordable conversion option for that bike.
I am still waiting to hear back with the final details. If I don't hear back from this vendor by early next week then I will contact some other vendors and see what kind of group buy pricing I can work out. The problem with these kits is they are very popular so getting a vendor to offer a group buy is proving to be difficult.

I will keep you all posted.
I would think that you could deal directly with Currie for them if you thought you would be able to sell enough of these kits. Without question you will sell them no matter how many you buy provided you can get the cost down low enought. That's why I would be talking directly to Currie.

You have a very good point. I actually contacted Currie before I tried to find a vendor to do a group buy for us. I called and sent a few emails but haven't heard back yet. I will give them a call again Monday to see what I find out. I have a few friends that are looking to get some kits so I know I could sell them without a problem.
I have one Vendor that is interested I am just trying to get us all a good deal. DrkAngel found some kits for $279 with free shipping which is the best deal I've seen so the group buy would obviously have to be better than that.
Still waiting on the pricing. If anybody is interested please reply to this thread. The more people that are interested the better the pricing will be. If you belong to any other forums then give them a link to this group buy.
Hope to have the final numbers soon. I did inform them that they are going for $279 with free shipping at houseofscooters.com
I am interested in buying the kit, maybe in volume
I run a homeless shelter in Moultrie, GA and have been looking for a suitable conversion kit to use with donated bikes for our residents to use. I currently have one conversion in progress using a 250 watt kit but have had many problems with the kit (mostly vendor quality issues). I have a bike shop a block from the shelter (Lastinger Cycle and Lawn Equipment that has been here for decades) doing the conversion and the owner has done similar conversions in the past for other customers. I am interested in buying one as a prototype and then, depending on the success of the conversion, perhaps buying as many as 10 to convert for use by our residents and/or sell to raise money for the shelter

Sounds like a good way to raise money. Robin, if you buy ten of these I'd like to buy one off of you in a few months.

I'd love to buy one too for my PowerSlide but I can't right now. I just bought an Ezip and a bunch of stuff for it (& I want a bunch more...handlebars like Ritchie's, hitch-mount bike rack (& hitch!), fenders, rain cape, gloves).

you can buy the COMPLETE bike from Target or Walmart for about the same price and get ALL of the components PLUS!!!
Yes, you can get the ezip for $398 taxes not included and shipped to the store for free. This kit is for people that already have a bike and just need a kit.

I'm not a flatlander, having retired to a forest west of Glacier National Park. I have to say I'm extremely happy with the performance, especially the torque, on the Currie conversion kit. I'm also happy that I have 21 gears, not just 7, since I use the full range of gears available on my bike. If you're a flat lander, 7 may be enough but if you're in the mountains, putting a conversion kit on a 21 or 24 gear bike is a much, much better course of action. If you have a bike that you love, add the conversion kit, you'll love your bike even more.
